IT Manager

Calysta, Inc is seeking a multi-talented IT Manager, based in San Mateo, CA but responding to corporate needs across the globe. This is a “many hats” role, requiring an energetic self-starter with broad experience in IT management, network engineering, systems administration, web development, and data engineering. Computational Microbiologist

Calysta is looking for a highly motivated computational microbiologist to join our team. With a background in bioinformatics/data analytics and microbiology, the ideal candidate will help develop and implement new methods for rapid analysis of complex microbial consortia.

Reports to: VP, R&D

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop robust NGS/deep sequencing methods for complex bacterial consortia.
  • Develop bioinformatics analysis pipeline and tools to process and visualize data.
  • SOP generation and tech transfer of wet lab methods.
  • Enable remote data analysis (to process data from sites around the globe and provide rapid feedback).
  • Communicate effectively with various cross-functional teams and sites.


  • MS or PhD in Computational Biology or related subject.
  • Hands on experience with NGS platforms.
  • Experience with analysis of microbiome data as well as WGS data.
  • Team player with ability to work under own initiative.
  • Industrial experience preferred.
  • Strong experience in programming preferred.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills along with multi-tasking.
  • Proven ability to handle large genomic datasets efficiently using scripts, databases, and other computational tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to prioritize and execute tasks in a complex and agile environment, and drive results within set timeframes.

Analytical Research Associate/Assistant

Calysta is hiring a highly motivated Research Associate/Assistant to become a key contributor to our analytical chemistry team.

Reports to:
Director, Analytical Science


  • Perform routine & non routine analytical chemical testing analysis using GC, GCMS, HPLC, LCMS and other analytical equipment.
  • Conduct biochemical and enzymatic assay with high throughput format.
  • Develop, validate and implement new and improved methods of chemical analysis.
  • Data entry, process, analysis and management.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and consumable stock levels.
  • Oversee the technical transfer of methods between laboratories.
  • Communicate effectively with various cross-functional teams.
  • Develop, write and update SOP as required.


  • BS or MS in Chemistry or related subject.
  • >2 years of experience working in an analytical laboratory in industry setting is preferred.
  • Experience with a variety of modern analytical techniques including GC, GCMS, HPLC,
    LCMS, and UV spectroscopy.
  • Team player with ability to work under own initiative.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and written skills.
  • Writing and reviewing SOP.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills along with multi-tasking.
  • Previous hands on experience with automation equipment is an advantage.
